HR Revolution have teamed up with NDK consulting to form the “Dirty Oars” the winning team at the Dragon Boat Race taking place at Bewl Water on 10th September 2016.
Ok so clearly we haven’t won it yet, but that is certainly our plan in a bid to raise as much as we can for our two chosen charities. Both of which are close to our hearts as we personally know two very special little girls that benefit hugely from the fantastic work these charities do for them and their families.
Our first Charity is Ellenor who are an absolute lifeline for our special girl Elise. She has a condition called Lissencephaly which is rare gene-linked brain malformation which carries with it a heartbreaking outcome. The prognosis for children with lissencephaly depends on the degree of brain malformation, but sadly many will die before the age of 10 years.
Ellenor help children like Elise and their family by offering an at home hospice service which means families can stay together and make this very precious time together the best it can be. Unfortunately Lissencephaly is not the only cruel disease to take babies, children and young adults from us and Ellenor specialise in giving end of life care for all of them. The work they do is absolutely amazing and changes so many peoples lives for the better, choosing this as one of our charities was the easiest decision to make. If you’d like to read more about Elise and the work Ellenor do then visit our just giving page and please if you can donate, we’d be very grateful!
Our second Charity is Tree of Hope who are helping another very special little girl, Rebecca. She has spastic Cerebral Palsy and has just one wish… to walk. We can make this happen for Rebecca as she has been accepted for the Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) surgery at the St. Louis Children’s Hospital in Missouri. This is what the surgeon has said “ Her spasticity will be permanently reduced, her sitting and standing postures will improve, her transitions between postures will be easier and faster, her balance and level of comfort will both improve. We feel that Rebecca has a chance to walk with a walker and we will assess her ability to walk using crutches.….We strongly recommend that she have the rhizotomy surgery.”
There is only one problem stopping this fantastic surgery happening and that is the cost and so we would like to raise as much for Rebecca and make her wish come true. She is a remarkable little girl and has already raised money by fundraising, she just really needs help with the final hurdle. If you would like to read more about Rebecca and her amazing story please visit her just giving page and again, please if you can, donate to a wonderful cause.
Thank you for taking the time to read this… and of course if you’d like to come and see the Dirty Oars team in action, why not pop along on the day, it’s set to be a fantastic family event… here are the details:
